Before You Move to a New Neighborhood
Is it time for a move? Are you thinking about upsizing? downsizing? buying a vacation home?
Although you make think you know a place well, you owe it to yourself to thoroughly vet the new area. I suggest you go to ATTOM.com where you can get a wealth of information on the neighborhood including demographics, crime stats, sex offenders, and super fund sites, just to name a few. Best to know everything you can about the place you anticipate calling home.
The site also lists properties for sale by zip code. I haven't vetted this function - it may be no more accurate than Zillow - which reminds me to caution you when house hunting online. The local MLS site, TAAR.com in the greater Grand Traverse area, or agent website are going to have more accurate listing information than sites such as Zillow, Trulia, and the many other sites currently available. These search engines often get their information from secondary sources which may be far from accurate. Be aware.
